Marie Vilay is a
textile designer weaving themes of migration and decoloniality into her work. Analyzing
the surrounding aspects of the practice of weaving, her work takes the form of
installations and participatory interventions that use their context as a
conceptual basis and aim to create a more intimate engagement between the
viewer and her objects. Born in Luxembourg, to a mother belonging to the
Laotian diaspora and a Luxembourgish father, she graduated from the design
academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands and now resides in Brussels.
